2015 California baseball commit Jeremiah Burks -- a two-sport athlete out of Vacaville (Calif.) Will C. Wood and former teammate of current Bear righty Trevin Haseltine -- has been named to the 2014 All Area Code Team.
The Area Code Games bring together the best high school players from across the country, based on their geographical location. Burks was joined on the Oakland Athletics Area Code Team by 2015 right-handed pitcher/outfielder commit Tanner Dodson and 2016 pitcher/shortstop commit Jared Horn.
Burks' signature moment came against the Texas Rangers Area Code team, when he swatted a two-run triple in the bottom of the seventh -- what would, under normal circumstances, and not a showcase game, have been a walk-off hit -- on the second day of competition.
Burks was the first commit of the 2015 class for the Bears, a class which now includes Dodson, catcher Ty Greene, Jeffrey Mitchell, Ripken Reyes and Kasey Wallace.
The 2015 class can sign their National Letters of Intent in the early signing period, starting on Nov. 12, with the signing period open until Nov. 19. The late signing period is April 15, 2015 through Aug. 1, 2015.
Cal recently landed 2016 two-way athlete Max Flower out of Moraga (Calif.) Campolindo.
