Earned fourth year of eligibility by completing his academic studies in the spring of 2002 ... was honored with prestigious Mary Gates Scholarship in 2001, allowing him to study abroad in South Africa ... work with students in South Africa earned him the prestigious Edward E. Carlson Student Leadership Award in the spring of 2002 ... was the student speaker at University ceremony to bestow an honorary degree to South Africa's Desmond Tutu ... exciting athlete who brings a big-play element to the Husky defense ... outstanding special teams player ... married last year to his wife, Tonya. 2001: Appeared in all 12 games, starting four of the first five … has played in every regular-season game of his career, a string currently at 33 … tallied 19 tackles, including four for loss … tackles-for-loss total tied for fourth on the team … had first-career interception in Huskies’ 33-31 victory at Arizona State … interception set up a second-quarter Husky touchdown … ranked second on the team with five tackles in 53-3 rout of Idaho … also notched a career-best three tackles-for-loss against the Vandals … against UCLA, forced a fumble on a sack of quarterback Cory Paus. 2000: Appeared in every game, starting against Idaho, Miami and Cal ... was ninth on the team in tackles with a career-high 30, including 25 unassisted ... six tackles-for-loss tied for fourth-most on the team ... set a new career-high with three sacks ... tied for fifth in the conference with three forced fumbles ... made five tackles, two for loss, and a sack in Huskies’ 34-24 Rose Bowl win over Purdue ... shared defensive MVP honors for his stellar performance against the Golden Bears ... ignited a 23-point fourth-quarter rally in Huskies’ 36-24 come-from-behind win ... forced a fumble on a sack of Cal’s Kyle Boller at the Cal 12-yard line to set up a field goal that brought the Huskies within eight ... sacked Boller again for a loss of 10 yards to force a punt on the Bears’ final drive ... first two-sack game of career ... made a similarly diverse impact in Huskies’ 35-28 win over UCLA, again earning defensive MVP honors ... made just two tackles, but stopped the Bruins’ final drive with a sack of quarterback Cory Paus, forcing and recovering the ensuing fumble to preserve the win ... five tackles against Arizona were a career-high ... recepient of the Inspirational Academic Award at the annual postseason banquet. 1999: Earned his first letter for play on special teams and as a backup at outside linebacker ... appeared in all 11 regular-season games and the Holiday Bowl against Kansas State ... finished the year with 22 tackles ... best game came at Arizona when he totaled five solo tackles ... recorded sacks against California and Arizona ... had four tackles for loss, including two against Arizona ... named the KING-TV co-Most Improved Defensive Player of the Year. 1998: Did not redshirt ... sat out 1998 season as partial qualifier, but with the option to earn back year of eligibility if on track to graduate in spring of 2002.
