Bigelow Okay after First Scrimmage

Brendon Bigelow

Fresno (Calif.) Central RB Brendon Bigelow has been practicing in full pads since August 9. Last night, he saw his first action on the field turf of Deran Koligian Stadium since tearing his ACL there last November. On his first carry, in a scrimmage versus Merced (Calif.) he planted a bit too hard and his knee buckled, but amid rumors, Bigelow says he's okay…

"When I plant, I plant, I go…it was my first game on turf I think that's what it was," said Brendon Bigelow (5-10, 180) whose Central team practices on grass not field turf.

"It was a stretch play and Merced knew it was coming, my knee just buckled. I got scared, but I'm okay."

"It didn't hurt at all. It felt like I sprained my leg. The Merced team doctor was there and he said my knee was strong. He said it was just the scar tissue. I just iced it and stood on the sidelines. I'm going to sit out and see how it heals."

Bigelow tore his ACL last November in a CIF Central Section playoff game. "I knew I didn't tear my ACL [again] because it's a pain you don't forget."

As far as recruiting, he says is planning to take some official visits before making his final decision. Cal, Notre Dame, Tennessee, UCLA, and Washington are still on his list of schools.
