Cal Offers Rising Backer

LB Jalen Jefferson

Ventura (Calif.) St. Bonaventure linebacker Jalen Jefferson has racked up an impressive five Pac-10 offers, including his latest from the California Golden Bears...

Jalen Jefferson (6-3, 210) is now up to six offers, with more on the horizon.

"Iowa State offered me (two weeks ago)," said Jefferson. "They hadn't been recruiting me and I hadn't gotten any letters, but Coach T (St. Bonaventure head coach Todd Therrian) came up to me and said I got offered by them."

On Wednesday, his fourth Pac-10 offer came in.

"Arizona just offered me on Wednesday," said Jefferson.

Then his fifth Pac-10 offer came on Thursday, when Cal offered.

And Jefferson is anticipating a couple more.

"Coach T said Boise State could be next," said Jefferson. "And I'm hoping for an offer from Oregon."

Jefferson grew up a USC fan and is planning on going to the Rising Stars Camp. While he doesn't have an offer, he said dialogue has been good.

"I hope they offer," said Jefferson. "I think they would have offered me if Coach [Rocky] Seto was still there. Coach [Ed] Orgeron is recruiting me now."

Jefferson said his top five schools were all in the Pac-10.

"My top five is USC, Oregon, Arizona, Arizona State and Washington," said Jefferson.
