Four-Star Adds Offers, Cal Still in the Mix

Gary Bell

Scout.com's 2011's No. 17 rated shooting guard, and Cal recruit, Gary Bell has picked up a handful of new scholarship offers since the season began. The Kent (Wash.) Kentridge standout talks about the latest in his recruitment...

Gary Bell is goal oriented.

Prior to the season, the 6-foot-2 combo guard wrote down a list of goals he wanted to achieve his junior season. Thus far he's on pace to achieve all of them.

"I'm playing up to my expectations," Bell told Scout.com. "I made some goals at the beginning of the year and I've met all of them."

He's already achieved his goal of being first team all-league and he'll likely reach his second goal of being first team all-state, after putting up a 55 point game and averaging 23 points per contest.

"I'm better off the dribble now than I was last year," Bell said. "Last year we had more of a motion offense and I was moving with out the ball getting shots. This year I had to switch it up more and go off the dribble."

"I'm playing point guard and shooting guard a little bit, but mostly with the ball in my hand," he added.

Coaches on the west coast have certainly taken notice of the Kent (Wash.) Kentridge standout, as he's picked up a handful of new scholarship offers since the season began.

" The new offers I've gotten this year have been from UCLA, Arizona State, USC and I think I have about six or seven total offers," Bell said. Washington, Gonzaga and California have also offered the four-star guard, while Illinois, Florida, Kansas, Arizona and Oregon are also showing interest.

"I'm still trying to feel it out a little bit," Bell said. "I want to make my decision after I take my visits to schools and feel out the campus. I haven't really taken any visits yet.

Bell, a member of the 2011 class, is currently ranked No. 17 at the shooting guard spot in Scout.com's positional rankings.
