The Beavs opened as a six point underdog to Cal this week. The line has since moved to seven.
Oregon State has been
favored only four times in the last 10 matchups against Cal, but the predicted
victory hasn't meant much lately - at least on the road.
The Beavers have won three
of the last four matchups and are 8-2 versus the Bears since 1999. OSU has
won four straight in Berkeley dating back to 2000.
Oregon State's victory in
2008 was the first by the home team since 2002 when OSU defeated Cal 24-13.
Cal hasn't won at home against Oregon State since 1997 (33-14).
California and Oregon
State have met 61 times dating to 1905 with the Golden Bears leading the series
33-28, including 19-14 in Memorial Stadium.
Another note of interest
is OSU versus ranked teams. The Beavs have won six of its last 12 games
against nationally ranked opponents, including three on the road – at No. 24
Hawai’i in 2006 (35-32), at No. 2 Cal in 2007 (31-28) and at No. 18 Oregon in
’07 (38-31, OT).
Oregon State is 3-4 against
the spread this season defeating the spread in three of its last four games.
