Geoff Gibson (6-4.5, 315) is a rising prospect in the West. But before the talented offensive lineman could further his recruitment, he decided to make a verbal commitment.

"He committed [to California] last night," said Bishop Gorman assistant coach Jerry Grimble.

Gibson becomes the fifth verbal commitment in the Golden Bears' 2010 recruiting class. Moreover, he is the first offensive player in the class joining defenders Dave Wilkerson, Cassius Marsh, Cecil Whiteside, and Jay Guy.

New offensive line Coach Steve Marshall is recruiting Gibson, who also had offers from both Pac-10 Arizona schools, and he was receiving interest from UNLV and Notre Dame.

He was the Las Vegas National Underclassman Combine OL MVP last season.
