Bears Land Davis Again

Ryan Davis recommits to Cal.

Cerritos (Calif.) College defensive end Ryan Davis is a Golden Bear once again. The standout defender committed to Cal in December only to decommit this past weekend while on an official visit to Washington. But at 7:16 a.m. PT, the Cal coaches received his signed National Letter of Intent…

Ryan Davis (6-4, 250) comes full circle. Back in December, he told how much he enjoyed his California visit. Furthermore, he did not mind what position he played.

The Golden Bears are recruiting Davis as an outside linebacker. It is the hybrid position of linebacker/defensive end Cal employed this year with Zach Follett in the 3-4 formation. Davis says he has never played linebacker.

Despite stating over the weekend that he preferred to line up on the line with his hand down, which is why he verbally committed to Washington, Davis is back to his original decision to be a Bear.

"Whether they kept me on defensive line or at outside linebacker, they made it clear I had a spot," said Davis. "I have never played linebacker. It doesn't have an effect on me. I'm not scared of change."
