Three-Star Safety Chooses Cal

Alex Logan

Coach Jeff Tedford and the California Golden Bears received a pledge from a coveted safety Monday evening. Denver (Co.) Mullen three-star safety Alex Logan gave Cal an oral commitment…

Alex Logan (6-3, 200) gave Scout.com the news Monday evening.

"I decided to commit to Cal," Logan said via text message.

He had 15 offers but ultimately chose the Bears. He is the No. 33 ranked safety in the nation according to Scout.com.

The commitment comes as somewhat of a surprise, since he told Scout.com last week that his fifth and final official visit would be "crucial" in his decision. He was mulling between tripping between Colorado and Washington, where his brother plays, for his final visit. But it was evident his interest in Cal was already well established.

"I really like their defensive backs," Logan said of the Bears' secondary.

"I've been impressed with Syd'Quan Thompson and Darian Hagan. "They've got some good players and really develop guys well, plus they told me that I'd have a good opportunity to get some early playing time too."

Cal redshirt sophomore offensive lineman Chris Guarnero is also from Denver Mullen.

Logan reports a 3.2 core GPA and a 25 ACT. He expresses interest in majoring in business.
