Tedford vs. USC: 1-5
This will be the 96th meeting between the two programs since the series began in 1915. The Trojans have won four in a row over the Bears since 2004, and six of the last seven dating back to the 2001 season. USC outlasted Cal, 24-17, in a rain-soaked game in Memorial Stadium last season. Cal tied the contest in the final minute of the third quarter when Lavelle Hawkins caught a 20-yard TD pass from Nate Longshore, who went 13-of-20 for 199 yards. Down, 24-17, Cal mounted a promising drive from its 8 in the final minutes, with Justin Forsett scampering deep into USC territory on a 34-yard screen pass with three minutes to go. But Longshore missed his target and cornerback Terrell Thomas' interception sealed the outcome. USC's offense ranks 10th in the country in yards per game (460.1).
