Key Michigan State Players
RB Javon Ringer (5-9, 202) -- Preseason all-Big Ten candidate rushed for 1,447 yards and six touchdowns last season. The senior running back is also the Spartans leading returning receiver with 35 receptions for 295 yards. He has sub 4.4 speed and will be expected to carry the load on the ground with the graduation of Jehuu Caulcrick.
QB Brian Hoyer (6-3, 215) -- Returning starter has 14 career starts and has passed for 3,755 in his career with 26 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. The senior signal caller completed 223 of 376 passes for 2,725 yards last season with 20 touchdowns. He is one of the top returning quarterbacks in the Big Ten.
SLB Greg Jones (6-1, 222) -- The second year starter led the Spartans with 78 tackles in 2007 as a true freshman. He added 4.5 sacks and 4 tackles for loss. He did not start a game until week six. He should be one of the top tacklers in the Big Ten this season.
