Softball team begins bid for NCAA title

The eight Women's College World Series participants played each other a total of 33 games during the regular season - topping the list is none other than California, which went 8-4 against the likes of Stanford, UCLA, Washington and LSU.

Fifth-seeded California will play fourth-seeded Florida State in the first round of the Women's College World Series this Thursday. The game will be televised live on ESPN2 at 6:30 pm (PT).

If California wins, they will play the winner of the Oklahoma - Washington game, Friday at 3 p.m. on ESPN2. As long as the Bears continue to win, they won't have to play more than one game per day - unless rain forces rescheduling.

If California loses, they will play the loser of the Oklahoma-Washington game on Saturday at noon on ESPN2. In the event that the Bears win that game, they'll have to come back at 5 p.m.(ESPN) that afternoon to play another game. A win in that game would mean that Cal would have to win two games on Sunday to advance to Monday's championship game.

Monday's championship game is schedule to be televised by ESPN at 4 p.m.
