HIGHLIGHTS: New Williams

WESTLAKE, Calif. -- One of the most highly-sought-after guards in the 2015 class, Santa Monica (Calif.)'s New Williams returns from an injured knee to pour in 19 points in a Vikings win.

WESTLAKE, Calif. -- After a quarter, Santa Monica (Calif.)'s New Williams -- a 2015 four-star -- had 12 points, four boards and two assists as the Vikings led, 20-15, over Elk Grove (Calif.) Pleasant Grove, and fellow 2015 four-star Marquese Chriss.

Williams came down awkwardly on his knee after the half, though, and was notably less effective, but that didn't slow him down from going toe-to-toe with Chriss in the paint.

The 6-foot-2, 160-pound Williams finished the evening 5-for-11 from the field (after going 5-for-7 in the first half), and went a perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line. Williams added two steals, five boards and three assists on the night, as Santa Monica fended off a late push to win, 66-55.

Williams and Jonah Mathews -- who went 11-for-24 from the field for 26 points, adding four boards, two assists and a steal -- next play against Westlake at 8:30 p.m., on Friday at Westlake High.
