Several Suitors for Okun

Newbury Park (Calif.) offensive lineman Zach Okun (6-4, 310), is one of the top offensive linemen in the West  in the 2015 class.

And he's one of the top targets for several schools, with eight offers in, seven of them coming from the Pac-12.

"I have offers from Washington, Washington State, California, Arizona State, Arizona, UCLA, Kansas State and Oregon State," said Okun.

Several other schools are showing interest in him too.

"Oregon, USC and Notre Dame are the main ones looking at me that haven't offered," said Okun.

Because of all the early offers and additional interest, Okun is taking a deliberate approach to recruiting.

"I definitely don't want to narrow anything down yet," said Okun. "I want to get out and see some schools before narrowing it down. I definitely want to see some schools, before doing anything like that."

Okun has been invited to USC and UCLA games, but hasn't had a chance to get to the Coliseum or Rose Bowl yet, though he plans to down the line.

He will, however, see two of the schools that have offered him this weekend when he heads to Seattle to visit Washington when they host Arizona.

"We have a bye this week, so I'm taking the opportunity to go to Washington," said Okun. "I went there when I was younger, but don't really remember that, so this will be my first time in the new stadium and it should be a good time. I've talked to Coach (Dan Cozzetto and really liked him but Coach (Marques) Tuiasosopo is the main one recruiting me and we have a good relationship. I'm going to take a tour of the campus on Friday and meet with Coach Sark (Steve Sarkisian)."

Cal was at his game last weekend, and Okun has a good relationship with offensive line coach Zack Yenser. Arizona and Arizona State are also putting in a lot of time with him.

Okun plays guard, and said he thinks he'll play there, but a move to center isn't out of the question.

"Some coaches say I project to center and I play guard but it doesn't make a difference," said Okun.

Academically, Okun will take the PSAT this fall and will take the SAT and ACT this spring.
