Mixon has been consistent saying he wanted to take all five of his official visits to schools outside the region but he decided to alter those plans earlier in the week.
"California is in my top five and I feel like I should visit all the schools that I'm most serious about," Mixon said. "I was going to just do an unofficial visit to Cal but official visits are so much different. You get treated differently on an official and this way my parents can be a part of the whole weekend experience as well.
"I was just at Cal for their scrimmage and I like what I see from them. They're definitely moving up my list and like I said, they're a favorite so I want to visit all my favorites. I have one more trip left but I'm still trying to figure out that last one right now."
"A&M is still in it but I just wanted to visit Cal that weekend," Mixon said. "I haven't dropped them but I'm getting pretty close to having a top five pretty soon here. I still have some great options, schools I have never seen before like Oregon, Tennessee and Ohio State.
"Right now, I'm just really focused on my upcoming season and I can't wait until next Friday. I still feel like I have a lot to prove, I have big goals for myself. I want to be the No. 1 RB in the nation so I'm going to go out there and try my best to prove it on the field."
