Cal Commits Earn AGH Honors

Vic Enwere

Every year the Houston Touchdown Club awards select athletes with the preseason All-Greater Houston team honors. Two California commitments made the list.

It was always been an attractive option for players to head out west to play football. Sure, the west coast already has a nice crop of players to choose from as the San Diego and Southern Cal, but heading east and grabbing more than a handful of players from the Lone Star State has and always will be a great option for Pac-12 coaching staffs.

At California, the Bears coaching staff has done well in recent years in Texas and 2014 is starting off well now as the Greater Houston area has a couple players committed to Cal currently. Clearly these two guys are some of the top players in that both are part of the Preseason All-Greater Houston team and will be honored by the TD Club of Houston on Wednesday, August 14.

First in for the Bears was Spring (TX) Dekaney defensive end Isadore Outing (** DE), who pledged to Cal in late May, choosing over Colorado, Iowa State and North Texas

In mid June, Sugar Land (TX) Austin running back Vic Enwere (*** RB) pledged to the Bear coaching staff over Michigan State, Colorado, Missouri and SMU. Enwere gives the Bears a larger back (6-1, 213) with versatility.

Outing and Enwere are the only two Houston area players honored who are committed to a west coast program.
