Keeping in Touch
The big forward, though, is not lump of human clay that Sanders-Frison was when he arrived in Berkeley as a JuCo transfer. He's taller than the former California big man at 6-foot-9, and much leaner at a muscular 260 pounds.
Miller was offered by Baylor on Tuesday, and has started receiving more attention from the Bears, but he's also seen his interest from the Golden Bears increase, as well.
"I've been talking to coach [Gregg] Gottlieb at Cal a lot," said Miller. "I've got a lot of schools stepping up in July, too."
Miller and Run GMC made it to the title game last weekend, with Miller anchoring the low post.
"I did pretty well; offensively, I played a lot better than I usually do," Miller said. "We got to the championship, and now we're trying to finish it and get a championship here in Milwaukee."
While he's readying to participate in the NY2LA tournament in Wisconsin during the second July viewing period which starts tonight, he has his sights set on next week's Las Vegas Fab 48.
"I'm very excited," Miller said. "Last time I went to Vegas, I won the Super 64, so hopefully, we can do well in the Fab 48 and win the Fab 48. That's my favorite city right now."
With increased recruiting interest, Miller admitted that he hasn't even thought beyond Vegas, as far as unofficial visits are concerned.
"I'll probably cut my list down soon, to how many schools, I don't know," Miller said. "After that, I'll proceed to take my official visits. I haven't even sat down and thought about [which schools] yet."
Miller has been in frequent contact with Cal, which, combined with the fact that former teammate David Kravish has already made his mark in Berkeley, could put the Golden Bears in a good position when the first cut does eventually come.
"I talk to coach Gottlieb probably two or three times a week, and he talks about why I would fit in at Cal, but most of the time, we don't even talk about basketball," Miller said.
