We take a look at the tape from Friday's camp session as Cal target D.J. Calhoun gets a one-on-one…
Summer Catch-Up: Jalen Harvey
EL CERRITO, Calif. -- As he watched his teammates go through offseason workouts, California wide receiver commit Jalen Harvey did whatever he could to get involved. Pushups with recent USC commit D.J. Calhoun, reps at quarterback -- you name it.
The only thing he couldn't do was run routes.
Harvey suffered a slight MCL tear at the Bears' contact camp in June, and has been rehabbing ever since.
"Rehab's going pretty well," Harvey said. "I'm going to 24-Hour Fitness and doing some exercises in the pool to help make it stronger."
But not even the injury could stop Harvey from enjoying his time at Cal.
"I love the atmosphere up there," Harvey said. "I didn't want to push it too hard so that I might injure myself, even though I ultimately did. But I still had a good time."
Harvey said that he's using this time in rehab to mentally prepare for his senior season at El Cerrito.
"I'm focusing on whatever I have to do to help us win state," Harvey said. "Our team came together last year, but it wasn't the complete package. We still need to work more on chemistry."
As for his college plans, 6-foot, 175-pounder remains solidly committed to the Bears. But that doesn't mean other teams haven't tried to change that.
"The main two I hear from the most are Washington and Colorado," Harvey said. "I might take an official visit to those schools, but I'm still not sure."
Harvey, Cal target Adarius Pickett, and the rest of the Gauchos open their season August 30th against Sutter High School.
