Stone Staying Focused On Today

When Lindell Stone was given a verbal scholarship offer prior to entering high school, many questioned the decision to offer a young man just leaving the eighth grade. Friday, Stone traveled to Michigan for the Sound Mind Sound Body camp opening yet another set of eyes. We get the latest on the Texas native.

The recruiting world was put on notice recently when UCLA offered Dallas (TX) Highland Park quarterback Lindell Stone his first scholarship.

While most reports focused on the fact Stone has yet to take a snap at the high school level, the signal caller knows there is a long way to go before getting caught up in all the recruiting hype.

"It's great to come up here and see all the talent in the North," said Stone. "Right now I'm just focused on working hard and getting better. Not on recruiting."

Under the watchful eyes of college coaches from Michigan State, Michigan and other, Stone went about the business of showing the tools that earned that first offer.

"Right now I'm really just keeping my head down and trying to work harder than everyone else to be the best quarterback in the nation," said Stone. "Coming out here was for the work, but it's great to meet new people and great coaches. Plus, I'm having a good time here."

When asked what his goals were in the years to come, Stone knows what matters most.

"I want to be a hard working, hardnosed player willing to do anything for my team," said Stone. "My goal is to get as many state championships under my belt as possible. I'm really not worried about recruiting, just working hard and winning championships."

From what we saw on the first day of the Sound Mind Sound Body camp, Stone has nothing to worry about when it comes to recruiting as we fully expected to hear more about him in the years to come. Recommended Stories
