Texas Tailback Garners Interest

Cedric Dale

The running back prospect from Forth Worth, Texas, Cedric Dale, has one in-state scholarship offer and is garnering a great deal more attention...

He played only six games his junior year, but that was more than enough to grab the attention from college coaches from across the country as Fort Worth (Tex.) Timber Creek running back Cedric Dale navigates through the process.

To date, he hold one scholarship offer from Texas Tech, and Dale said the Red Raiders are in a good place with him.

"I just went to Texas Tech last weekend for a junior day," Dale said. "I would say that Texas Tech has most of my interest. I just got a good vibe from the coaches and campus. Overall, I felt comfortable."

Dale, though, indicates he wants to keep his recruitment open, and has ventured to junior days at Georgia, Baylor and Oklahoma State.

While he clearly has been mostly Texas-based so far in his recruiting, he could venture west, too, he says. He's originally from California, and that could play a major factor in his recruitment going forward.

"I just got off the phone with UCLA (assistant) coach (Demetrice) Martin. I'm originally from there," Dale said of the Golden State. "There is a lot of interest here. Coach Martin and I talked. I've never met him, but he seems like a down-to-earth person. Hopefully I can get there for a junior day."

Dale is currently pretty busy, participating in a great deal of athletics this spring.

"Things are going really well for me. I'm going through football off-season and playing lacrosse right now," Dale said. "I thought I would try something new. That season will come to an end soon so I may be able to catch the tail end of track season."

The 5-foot-9.5, 185-pound Dale is looking for any edge to get better as he looks for traction to take place with football recruiting. He referred to the process as it is now as a "stand still," but that has not stopped him from making the rounds to plenty of colleges to see what all of them have to offer.

Last season in six games, Dale had close to 1,000 yards of offensive production.
