JORDAN POYER WAS a top cornerback performer in the 60 yard shuttle, with a time of 11.51 on Tuesday. Here’s how he did in the other six events…
Jordan Poyer
clocked a 4.54 in the 40-yard dash, about where he was expected to. If he had run a sub 4.5, that would have been a big eye opener for a guy who also has a lot of special teams skills.
Poyer checked in at 6-0, 191 at the combine. His arm length was measured at 31 3/4", while his hands were 9 3/4".
Poyer had a disappointing eight reps on the bench press with 225 pounds on the bar. He wasn’t last at the corner spot, but for a crowd wondering about his ability to play press coverage, the bench number didn’t help convince the crowd who put a lot of stock in combine measurables vs. on-field performance.
Poyer logged a 30.5-inch vertical jump and an 118-inch broad jump.
Poyer turned in very good times in the in the 20-yard shuttle run, (4.18 seconds), and the 3-cone drill (6.87)
Most of the cyberspace buzz has Poyer, a consensus All-America pick his senior year at Oregon State, being picked between the second and fourth rounds of the draft.
NFL Draft Scout projects Poyer as a second round pick. They rank him the No. 6 corner available in the draft.
The NFL.com site grades him out at 74.0, putting him in the category (70-84) of an eventual starter and second to third round selection.
