Catching Up With Quick

The Nation's No. 1 wide receiver talks about his recruitment, and gabs about his relationship with the Cal staff and one very quick tailback.

Of the prospects on the West Coast, hardly any are as hot right now as the wide receiver from Fresno (Calif.) Central East -- Michiah Quick.

Quick -- a five-star prospect -- is the No. 1 wide receiver in the nation, and California is quite sweet on Quick, especially given the new, receiver-centric offense.

"I talked with them probably last week," Quick said of the Bears. "We were talking about the new coaches and what side of the ball would I rather play on, and I told them offense."

Quick is also a top-notch corner, but he's a receiver at heart and by trade.

"We talked about me getting out there," Quick said. "I'm going to be in Vegas for 7-on-7 [during the March 2 Junior Day]. I might be able to do the spring game."

Quick will be attending USC's Junior Day this weekend, and boasts offers from Arizona, Boise State, Houston, Nevada, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oregon State, UCLA and Washington, among others. Cal has been in it with Quick since the beginning, though under the previous regime.

"They could be in the top 10, but right now I'm just seeing what's coming and what's opening to me right now, because I've still got another year," Quick said.

Though he won't be playing this spring because of a tweaked knee, Quick's former teammate at Central -- tailback Brendan Bigelow -- has been doing some recruiting of his own with Quick.

"Every time he comes down to Fresno, he comes to my house, so that's pretty nice," Quick said. "We talk about everything."
