CARSON, Calif. -- Jared Goff goes 4-for-6 on the night as seven Cal commits hit the field in the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl, and then send a video message to Cal fans.
CARSON, Calif.
-- The East team rode a last-minute two-yard touchdown pass from
Eddie Printz
to
Ryan Switzer
to a narrow, 17-14 victory over the West in the 2013 edition of the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl, leaving no time for
California
quarterback commit
Jared Goff
-- who went 4-of-6 for 29 yards -- to guide a potential game-winning drive for the West.
Goff, though, still made a big impact, completing three straight passes to open the third quarter and using his legs to escape pressure, but unfortunately for the early-enrollee, he had to deal with two errant snaps which negated his rushing yards and forced the West into bad field position at crucial moments in the game.
It wasn’t all a loss for the seven Golden Bear commits at the Home Depot Center, though. After the game, the fellowship is slated to head back to the Anaheim Marriott, where the Cal coaching staff is waiting to speak with them, and several other targets both in the game and in the area.
Victor Egu
finished the game with four tackles – second on the West. Bears target
Austin Hooper
-- playing on the same side of the defensive line as commit
Garrett Hughes
– tallied two tackles, one sack and two tacklers for loss. Hughes was a run-stuffing defensive tackle in the game, playing a three-technique.
Kicking commit
Matt Anderson
-- nursing a sore quad from a late-season helmet hit to his leg – hit two PATs, but did not kick off or attempt any field goals.
Khalfani Muhammad
-- the Bears’ tailback commit -- rushed a team-high six times, but only gained a net of two yards against a stout East defensive line.
