HOOPS COMMIT: PF announces on twitter

KEN BONE HAS landed his third commitment in the Cougars' 2013 recruiting class. A power forward prospect from California was on his official visit in Pullman this weekend and on Monday afternoon, via twitter, announced his decision that he will play for Washington State in 2013.

Tanner Lancona, a 6-8, 225-pound PF, is Wazzu bound.

"JUST COMMITTED TO WAZZU #wazzu go Cougs.," Lancona tweeted. "Thanks to all involved."

Lancona told CF.C last week that he was down to WSU and Clemson, after cutting down his offers list from 21 teams that included USC, Hawaii, Idaho, Santa Clara and 15 others. He added that the Cougs were looking at him as a power forward and that his relationship with assistant coach Ben Johnson was a big reason why he was heavily considering going crimson.

"We've been in contact since the early summer and he told me I can spread the defense out really well because of my shooting," Lancona said. "I can put the ball on the floor too and he likes that I can take it to the rack as well."

As a junior last season, he averaged 17 points, 12 rebounds and four assists per game. His success on the hardwood led to his college interest skyrocketing, with a flurry of teams contacting him over the summer.

CF.C has been trying to connect with Lancona for comment since his visit, but hasn't been able to reach him. After we hear back from him, this story will be updated.

Lanconca becomes the third verbal commit for Ken Bone's 2013 class, joining point guard Ikenna Iroegbu and PF Josh Hawkinson.
