Four-star California big man Marcus Lee became the fifth member of Kentucky's 2013 basketball recruiting class on Wednesday when he announced his intent to sign with the Wildcats.
Add another piece to what could wind up being the greatest basketball recruiting class in history.
Four-star Antioch (Calif.) Deer Valley center
Marcus Lee
announced Wednesday that he will sign with
Kentucky
, giving the Wildcats yet another highly-regarded prospect in the Class of 2013.
"Lee is a tremendous pick up for Kentucky," said Scout national basketball analyst Evan Daniels. "He can really help them on the interior.
"Lee is a very good athlete that runs the floor well and can impact the game on the defensive end and by way of grabbing rebounds."
The 6-foot-9 Lee, who visited Lexington last weekend for "Big Blue Madness," picked the UK over California. He joins five-star Texas twin guards
Andrew Harrison
and
Aaron Harrison
, five-star Michigan swingman
James Young
and four-star Kentucky forward
Derek Willis
in a class that many analysts suggest could become the best of all time. All of those players were on campus with Lee for Madness.
Lee is currently ranked the No. 2 center and No. 38 prospect overall by Scout. The Harrison twins are rated No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. Young comes in at No. 9. Kentucky coach
John Calipari
also continues to pursue five-star forwards
Julius Randle
(No.4),
Aaron Gordon
(No. 5) and
Andrew Wiggins
(No. 1 for 2014), who is considering reclassifying to the senior class.
