Cal is the call for Hunt

Corona (Calif.) Centennial offensive lineman Cameron Hunt becomes Cal's first commitment in the trenches for 2013.

Corona (Calif.) Centennial offensive lineman Cameron Hunt verbally committed to California on Saturday, selecting the Golden Bears over Arizona State.

Cal had been a heavy favorite to land Hunt, who cited the school's academics after putting on a Bears hat during his nationally-televised announcement at the Nike complex in Beaverton, Ore. while attending The Opening.

Hunt, Scout.com's No. 12-ranked guard, also had offers from Boise State, Cincinnati, Colorado, Washington and Washington State, among others.

Fox Sports and Scout.com national recruiting analyst Greg Biggins will have a complete interview with Cal's seventh member of the Class of 2013 shortly.
