Cal Adds Pair of Walk-Ons

Brian Farley

The California Golden Bears added a pair of preferred walk-ons from the 2011 class…

San Diego (Calif.) Patrick Henry offensive tackle Brian Farley and Carmichael (Calif.) Jesuit quarterback Ben Miroglio are headed to Cal.

The 6-8, 285-pound Farley has accepted a preferred walk-on spot with the Golden Bears, turning down offers from New Mexico State and some lacrosse offers. The return of Jim Michalczik to the Cal coaching staff, where he'll coach the offensive line, played a big factor in Farley's decision.

Miroglio, however, will be making a position switch when he gets to Berkeley.

"Ben accepted a walk on position with Cal, not as a quarterback but as a tight end," said his father David.

"He's been working hard and is going about 245 pound right now on his 6'5.5" frame. He's been working with Doug Cosbie on weekends on his tight end skills and is looking forward to being a part of the Cal football family.
